As a former Vampire Diaries fan, I can tell you that I am really disappointed. The Vampire Diaries used to be filled with twists and excitement, but nowadays it's just purely become about the couples. I'm not saying I didn't ship Delena or Stelena, both pairs were/are unique. But now, the writers are giving most of the fans exactly what they want, which can make a show boring, as fans need to have something to talk about.

Where did the writers go wrong? Honestly, it took a while to figure that one out. I mean obviously, as stated beforehand, the couples have become the centre of the show, leaving the storyline to tag along in the background. It's a shame because from season 1-3 the story was pretty good. I mean there was the classic unoriginal love triangle, but who doesn't like some old fashioned? Sure, you could argue that it was cliché and all that, but every show has a bit of mainstream in it. How else would they get people to watch?

Still, something just didn't work for me after season 3. It was like the writers had drowned in the success, trying everything to keep it. But by doing that, the show kind of started to drown with them. This is not an attack on the show, the writers or the fans, I just find that The Vampire Diaries has lost it's direction. Did anyone really know where they were heading and where they are heading now?

Season 4 was everywhere. Elena was struggling with her vampire state, Jeremy became a hunter,  Delena became official, Klaus was betrayed by his hybrid army and everyone was looking for "The Cure", which only had one dose. Too many story lines, too much to process, too many directions.
Season 5 was equally as scattered, with Silas being back and unleashing hell on earth, Stefan trapped under water, Kathrine being back as a human and Delena starting to become serious but then being torn apart as Elena's body is snatched and Damon reverting to his old ways. And who could forget the travellers, the "new witches" trying to take over the world?

All in all, I must say that The Vampire Diaries still has a chance of becoming okay again, although it is arguably a very typical teenager show filled with romances, drama, drama and oh, did I mention, DRAMA. The Vampire Diaries, or rather the writers have lost their spark. Now, in season 6, college was supposed to be a new start for all of them, but instead they are skipping class. It's almost like they are searching for trouble. I can say, that I have no intention of watching The Vampire Diaries anymore, but for people, who still want to give it a shot, start to look at the story. I know, everyone hypes the couples, but that's not all what the show is about. It's not all what the writers have to offer.

The 100: Bellarke or Clexa?

In honour of the 100 Season 2 finale and all of the 100 fans, I've decided to share my opinion about two of the couples on the show - Bellarke and Clexa. Some of you are Bellarke shippers, some of you like Clexa, but I'm currently not quite sure which to choose. Do I have to pick a side?

1. Bellarke
Ever since the show started, people have been shipping these two leaders. They have always found a way to make things work, have excellent teamwork and both of them have really grown to depend on each other. And then there are the books, written by Kass Morgan, on which the whole show is loosely based on, where all Bellarke scenes are just truly magical. Book fans started the hype and now the majority of the fandom is on their toes to see what will happen with these two. For myself, I can say that I am too.

Never the less, Jason Rothenberg (the shows producer) doesn't really seem to bother that much about Bellarke. Of course it's understandable that he doesn't want the show to be just about the couples. I mean it's a great show with a lot of interesting elements. I'm not saying that Bellarke has to happen now, honestly, I enjoy the chemistry and tension between the two, but I'm kind of hoping that they will be endgame.

Things are going to be very different for the couple in Season 3A though because, as most of you know, Clarke left Camp Jaha in the final episode of Season 2. As mentioned before, Clarke and Bellamy have been a team for so long, it's hard to imagine them not functioning as if they were one person. But how will their split effect them? Will they be able to work on their own? It will definitely be different. What I'm hoping for is a nice reunion where some sparks (not necessarily romantic ones, but close) fly.
Their goodbye was very emotional in the finale and I feel like many shippers took the kiss on the cheek the wrong way. The kiss was a thank you, a symbol of gratitude, basically a "I couldn't have done this without you". Allthough I can't wait to see if they end up together, I am quite patient and enjoy their friendship as it is right now. That leads me to:

2. Clexa

So I have to just say, that I love the fact that they have made Clarke bi. It's something that more and more shows are doing, but mostly, the classical hetero relationship stays in main focus. Obviously, there was some feelings for the other involved, but right now, it isn't looking that good for Clexa.

Betrayal was a strong theme in Season 2 and as Clarke does feel betrayed, I can understand her being angry and shocked. However, if you think about Lexas position, you understand her more too. She was doing what she thought was right for her people. She wanted to save them. At any cost. Isn't that what Clarke did? She did just kill The Mountain Men, even though she knew that not all of them were bad. But she did it for her people. That's what defines Clexa. They are both strong female leaders, trying to do what is right. On the ground, can you really judge right and wrong at the moment? What about the "grey zone"?

Personally I like Clexa because it's different and interesting to watch. I think Clarke can learn a lot from Lexa and the other way around. A romance between them would be great any time now, I feel like they would be good together. But, are they really endgame material? I don't think so.

All in all I must say that writing this has helped me understand my position. For me, Clexa should be temporary, while Bellarke should be that one romance that lasts (hopefully) forever. But I'm interested to hear some other opinions, so if you have the time, share them with me in the comments!

Recap: Pretty Little Liars Season 5 Finale

The Season 5 finale of Pretty Little Liars was meant to give us answers! We got a few, but as usual the answers only bring up more questions. Never the less, it feels like we’re getting closer to finding out who A is.

Season 5, episode 25 (“Welcome to the doll house”) had its moments.
Firstly, Mona is alive and well (for the most part).
Secondly, the Big A reveal did happen, but Marlene King made sure it was twisted. We now know that A is to 99% a guy and probably related to the DiLaurentis Family. Jason’s twin perhaps? Marlene did say that one character would have a twin. But this raises even more questions. One name – CHARLES. Who is Charles? Could he be hiding out in the open under an alias? Maybe Andrew? For those of you who watched the finale, we know that Andrew is up to no good. The question is – could he be A? Personally I find that Andrew being A is too easy. The writers always set new suspects out there. Still, Andrew could be on the A-Team.
And last, but not least, the Hastings know about A and are all badass about it by joining forces with the Boyfriend gang consisting of Caleb, Toby and Ezra. Tanner also kind of knows about A, as they found A’s lair. Maybe Tanner will finally stop suspecting the  liars.
Although I like the fact that Pretty Little Liars has grown enormously, by going from a Teenager-thriller into something a bit more dark and twisted, almost having a little psycho-feeling to it, I think they still could pull it off better. The doll house was the centre and honestly the best thing about the finale but everything around it could get a little dull at some point.
Reflecting on Season 5, I give it 3/5 stars. The finale episode was a solid 4 stars. Season 6 is sure to be filled with exciting twists and turns along the way and I can’t wait for the premiere, even though Season 5 has just ended! Don’t forget liars, the identity of Big A will be revealed in Season 6 so stay tuned for more updates!
